A path of a total eclipse will pass right through Missouri and southern Illinois on August 21, 2017. Scientists, teachers and towns are already planning for the moment when day turns to night.

It might just be green slime to most of us, but a St. Louis scientist says deep in the DNA of algae is the story of boys and girls. 

Most of us enjoy the flowers, trees and shrubs of the Missouri Botanical Garden, but around the world it is also known among botanists for its important collection of dead plants.
 
Not all forest fires are bad, and the Forest Service is using controlled burns in North Carolina to learn more about that region’s declining oak population.
