This inspiring documentary looks at the groundbreaking work of local surgeon, Dr. Susan E. Mackinnon, director, Center for Nerve Injury and Paralysis, chief, Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, and professor at Washington University in St. Louis, School of Medicine. She uses a pioneering technique called nerve transfer surgery to retrain the brain to move lifeless muscles. The film follows the charismatic Mackinnon and her patients from the exam room to the operating room as their extraordinary stories unfold.
