Nine Network Purchases Digital Preservation Assets from NURAY Digital

V9 Digital, Nine Network’s production services arm, now to offer digital preservation services

St. Louis, MO — March 7, 2017 —The Nine Network has purchased the assets of South Carolina-based NURAY Digital. NURAY Digital offered the latest technology for the high-volume digitization, restoration and preservation of film and video archives. These resources expand the many capabilities of Nine’s extensive production services through V9 Studios.

V9 Studios will become V9 Digital. V9 Digital’s preservation team will provide a range of preservation services for athletic organizations, government agencies, universities and colleges, historical societies, production companies, TV stations, nonprofits and other organizations. These will include digitization, restoration, media asset management and retrieval services for enhancing content accessibility.

“Organizations now have millions of hours of film and video in their archives.  These precious media assets are often not easily accessible and will inevitably degrade over time if they are not preserved and cataloged in a digital management system,” said Nine Network President and CEO Jack Galmiche. “Following our purchase of these assets from NURAY Digital, V9 Digital is now able to enlist our considerable experience with digital media to preserve these priceless recordings. Our extensive equipment and technology provides V9 Digital with a high-volume, cost-effective capability for restoring and digitizing large archives in the shortest time and highest quality possible.”

Media and communications entrepreneurs Rick and Dee Ray, founders of RAYCOM Media in 1979, founded NURAY Digital in Bluffton, South Carolina in 2010. Over the course of its operation, the company preserved more than 36,000 media assets on behalf of its clients. The Ray’s wished to cease the operations of NURAY Digital in order to focus on other business ventures and were interested in locating a buyer they were confident could continue to provide existing clients with a high degree of quality and professionalism.
