Community Engagement Internships

The Nine Network of Public Media in St. Louis, MO (ninenet.org) is in search of eager, hard-working interns that want to learn about and apply their skills and talents to support the Nine Network of Public Media’s work in production/community engagement.  All internships require a minimum of a 10-hour per week commitment. The internship is paid or will receive credit via arrangement with the intern’s post-secondary institution. Digital Community Engagement Intern

The Nine Network of Public Media seeks self-motivated, creative interns with excellent organizational, communication, and presentation skills to assist with the Nine’s work in the community focusing on social media presence. The aim of this work is to better understand the issues that are important to the people of our region and to raise awareness of the Nine Network within our region, as well as to engage with our community in the digital space. Must be knowledgeable with Microsoft Office, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Google Docs. Individual must have both talent and interest in working with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders (community members, colleagues at Nine, etc.), organizing information, preparing social media posts that adhere to brand standards and align with the aims described above, develop documents and resources for meetings, events.          

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated an accredited college or university

  • Must be willing to help organize and develop social media language for a range of initiatives from tune-in posts, to historical/informative posts, to educational content for our American Graduate Phase III initiative.

  • Must have experience creating digital content such as images, video, memes for the purpose of engaging a digital audience (Include examples when sending Resume and Cover letter)

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including presentation and public speaking skills

  • Competent in using social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.) to generate interest and awareness

  • Create and maintain an editorial calendar for developing and organizing social media messaging with creative and brand-appropriate language

  • Experience with working and communicating with internal and external stakeholders (community members, colleagues, etc.)

  • Overall ability to properly use Microsoft Office and Google Drive/Docs

  • Must have excellent organizational skills and the ability to multitask

  • Must be self-motivated

  • Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision to meet deadlines

  • Must be dependable and team-oriented

 

Community Conversation Engagement Intern - American Graduate Focused

The Nine Network of Public Media seeks self-motivated, creative interns with and excellent organizational, communication, and presentation skills to assist with the Nine’s work in the community related to a variety of content initiatives, but focusing on American Graduate: Getting to Work. The aim of this work is to better understand the issues that are important to the people of our region, especially as it relates to youth, parents, educators and those that work with youth in relation to the career opportunities available to high school graduates in our region. Must be knowledgeable with Microsoft Office and Google Docs. Individual must have both talent and interest in working with a wide range of stakeholders (teachers, students, community members, etc.), public speaking, organizing information, and preparing documents and resources and executing meetings and events both internally and externally.     

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from an accredited college or university, a plus but not required

  • Must be willing to help organize and lead community conversations, including contacting partners, inviting/tracking attendees, moderating conversations with youth, parents and teachers to understand their priorities when it comes to education and keeping track of/reporting key themes of each conversation

  • Strong written, verbal communication skills including presentation skills

  • Competent in public speaking for the purpose of moderating Community Conversations and communicating with those outside of the organization.

  • Experience working and communicating with stakeholders (community members, community leaders, youth, parents, etc.)

  • Overall ability to properly use Microsoft Office and Google Drive/Docs

  • Must have excellent organizational skills and the ability to multitask

  • Must be self-motivated

  • Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision to meet deadlines

  • Must be dependable and team-oriented
