Production Facilities Manager

The Nine Network is seeking a qualified Production Facilities Manager. Responsibilities include the management of all Facilities activities and operations for Nine Network and V9 Digital. This position reports to the Engineering Department and works closely with the Nine Network’s Special Events Department.

Advanced proficiency with Broadcast level equipment as well as Professional Audio Video equipment required for events. The ability to work some evenings and weekends is required.

A Bachelor's Degree in a Facilities or Broadcast related field or equivalent professional experience is required. Strong organizational and communication (written and oral) skills a must. Live multi-camera directing experience is preferred.

POSITION SUMMARY:  

  • Coordination of facilities and personnel for clients.
  • Supervise facility operations.
  • Supervise the Technical Production and Facilities staff.
  • Preparation and management of V9 Digital facilities budget and revenue goals.
  • Oversees studio and remote facilities.
  • Oversees the graphics and videos for the Public Media Commons
  • Schedules the Technical Production staff.
  • Supervises technical and logistical needs of Nine Network Events.
  • Troubleshoots a/v equipment and software during before, during and after events
  • Manages all in-house event equipment
  • Schedules and hires the necessary technical and logistical production and event staff.
  • Assigns and is present for the set-up and dismantle for Nine Network events.
  • Attend weekly meetings to assess the production and event needs.
  • Seek, identify and train pool of bargaining unit and non- bargaining unit freelance employees.
  • Direct programs and/or produce projects as needed.
  • Establish operational procedures for studio and remote production services.
  • First line of communication for clients.
  • Assist VP of engineering and operations as requested to facilitate station operations.
  • Assist Director of Events for all event facility needs
  • Manages live event, audio recording and video production
  • Basic video editing and graphics knowledge 
  • Assigns or leads event set-up and dismantle (tables, chairs, power, a/v, lights, sound)
  • Maintain studio calendar of events
  • Coordinates event freelance union staff
  • Available during(nights/weekends) events to assist with technical and logistical elements
  • Available for weekly meeting to review event needs
  • Assist with loading graphics and videos in the PMC
  • Assist with running a/v elements during onsite & offsite events
  • Ability to troubleshoots a/v equipment and software (when necessary) during before, during and after events
  • Understand internal a/v capabilities and assist with outsourcing when needed
  • Takes ownership of in-house event equipment 
  • Has live event, audio recording and video shoot production experience
  • Basic video editing and graphics knowledge 
  • Other duties as assigned

WORKING CONDITIONS:  Physical requirements of essential functions. 

  • Must be able to lift and carry a 50-pound weight 100’ without stopping.
  • Must be able to lift overhead a 25-pound weight for a period of at least one minute.
  • Must be able to stand in place without break for a period of an hour.
  • Must be able to sit without break for a period of an hour.
  • Must be able to work in dimly lit work areas.
  • Must be able to work in a solitary environment.
  • Must be able work at heights greater than 20’.
  • Must be able to work varied and extended hours, weekends,
  • Must be able to be on call 24/7.
  • Must have a valid Missouri’s Drivers License and be insurable. 

MINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Documented 5 years’ experience in facilities management.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Film and TV production or equivalent experience plus a minimum of 3 years management experience.
  • Documented 5 years experience as a live director of television programs.
  • Proficient knowledge of television production equipment.
  • Proficient knowledge of television lighting systems and a basic knowledge of lighting design.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications.
