Director of Evaluation

POSITION SUMMARY

Under the direct supervision of the Senior Vice President and Chief Content Officer, the Director of Evaluation is responsible for managing an effective system to monitor the progress, impacts, and successes of a full range of Nine Network initiatives and activities.

The ideal candidate for this role has demonstrated experience and success in the design and execution of evaluation strategies, social research, program management, and/or outcomes measurement. This individual also possesses a disciplined, strategic and data driven approach to decision making with a sharp focus on metrics, outcomes, and results. The Director of Evaluation is a self-starter and dedicated team player who plays a critical role in measuring and making meaning of the impact of Nine’s work.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design and conduct evidenced-based impact evaluations
  • Develop and manage the design, implementation and oversight of evaluation processes
  • Conduct ongoing quantitative and qualitative evaluation of our programmatic impact through a variety of methods including: baseline studies, surveys, needs assessments focus groups, and interviews
  • Use data to identify necessary changes and future opportunities
  • Lead data collection activities including survey research quantitative and/or qualitative data analysis
  • Manage existing data collection system, working with external contractor to adapt as necessary
  • Perform thorough analyses of data and produce reports that include statistical, narrative and graphic components as appropriate
  • Work closely with staff to ensure projects milestones are met, delivering outputs as promised, and achieving intended outcomes
  • Support collection and documentation of success stories and lessons learned
  • Work closely with colleagues across the organization to align data and information as part of a broad knowledge management strategy
  • Through training and technical assistance, strengthen the assessment and evaluation capabilities Nine Network staff and other public media organizations participating in projects under Nine’s leadership
  • Develop and present evaluation workshops at conferences and gatherings as needed
  • Keep current on relevant professional standards, trends and issues 
  • Other duties as assigned

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s degree required; significant coursework in statistics strongly preferred
  • At least 5 years of experience in designing, managing and implementing results-based evaluation activities
  • Experience analyzing quantitative and qualitative data
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in survey design and implementation
  • Strong proficiency in SPSS (or similar software), Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint,Tableau, survey software such as tools such as Survey Gizmo, Qualtrics or Survey Monkey
  • Familiarity with social media analytics
  • A strong team player, who is also a self‐starter with a desire to take on new challenges
  • Exceptional organizational, analytical and problem solving skills—must be able to think and act quickly and outside the box
  • Time management skills are a must
  • Must present a professional manner and appearance
