POSITION SUMMARY

The media industry is evolving rapidly and radically. In this competitive environment of new risks and opportunities, the Nine Network of Public Media is seeking a senior-level team member to build out new and old revenue models that will sustain the organization and strengthen our capacity to support the St. Louis region. The Chief Revenue Officer (CRO) is responsible for implementing revenue models across the Nine Network of Public Media and V9 Digital, the production and preservation service provider of the Nine Network. The CRO reports directly to the CEO and operates across Nine’s fundraising, sales, membership, and marketing departments and oversees the organization’s entire revenue value chain. At a high level, the CRO commits to short-term results, forecasts future revenue, and takes accountability for both short-term success and longer-term strategy.

DUTIES

  • Revenue strategy: align revenue with business architecture and strategies
    • Integrate brand positioning that articulates the organization’s product and service differentiators to community members, funders, prospects, customers, partners, and internal teams
    • Craft sales and marketing strategies/tactics to maximize revenue potential from existing and prospective supporters and customers
    • Effectively promote revenue generation as a priority across departments that may not necessarily have direct revenue responsibility
    • Serve as a key member of the Leadership Team, actively contributing to the strategic direction of the organization
  • Revenue systems: define sales and marketing processes, integrate technologies, and engage teams
    • Implement predictable, repeatable, and scalable development, sales, and marketing processes using data analytics and manage a consistent pipeline and forecasting methodology
    • Track prospects and opportunities in organization-wide CRM
    • Develop sales goals and provide realistic forecasts of annual and quarterly revenue streams
  • Revenue programs: engage prospects and acquire funders/customers in coordination with marketing team
    • Communicate brand positioning to build awareness with customers, industry participants, and influencers
    • Deliver new business and maintain a healthy pipeline of prospects

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Undergraduate degree, with advanced degree preferred
  • Relevant work experience: 10+ years of senior business development/sales experience, with experience in the media industry preferred
  • Proven success developing and executing new revenue models
  • Proven experience working closely with or leading marketing initiatives
  • Relationship-building and client management skills
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines
